Eschewing the magical paths more traditionally pursued by those of his race, Xiphoid joined the Thieves' Guild at an exceptionally early age. Possessing the nimble fingers and nimbler mind common to the Fae, he quickly mastered the stealthy arts. Sadly, when they discovered his talents, his prowess was viewed with revulsion by the rest of his kind and he was cast out of his home by his family and forbade from ever returning.
Xiphoid was forced to wander as an itinerant cut-purse, snatching his opportunities as he found them and trusting to his wits to keep himself one step ahead of trouble. Foolishly, he tried to pick the pocket of the mortal form of the half-Fae goddess Cerdwyn, who, in her benevolence, took pity on this disgraced and dejected creature and, instead of ordering her paladin to tear him limb from limb as he expected, granted him the immortality he had always craved.
